Myanmar Diary Entry#3

There is a remarkable family spirit in the Geography Department. The department head (chair) has a large office. It is filled with faculty and staff most of the day working together, and outside the room are the assorted shoes (mainly flip-flops) that everyone has taken off before going inside.

There is a lot of laughing and always a lot of food to eat. Back at CWU, the Geography Department gets along well but we spend most of each working day either in our classrooms or our individual offices. Individualism is certainly a weaker element of working life here.

[CWU Geography Professor John Bowen will be sharing his experiences of living and working abroad in regular dispatches appearing on Cwucrimsonandblack.com. He and other Wildcats abroad are featured in the Spring 2020 issue of Crimson & Black, CWU’s alumni magazine, available in May.]
